Mona Tajali and Homa Hoodfar


Mona Tajali is Assistant Professor of International Relations and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, and directs the Human Rights and the Middle East Studies Programs at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia. Her areas of expertise are gender and politics, human rights, and social movements in the Middle East.

Since 2007, she has been collaborating with the research wing of the transnational feminist organization, Women Living Under Muslim Laws (WLUML), and in 2019 she was elected to serve as part of WLUML’s executive board.

Homa Hoodfar is Professor of Anthropology, Emerita, at Concordia University. Her primary research and expertise lies in the intersection of political economy; gender and citizenship rights; women’s formal and informal politics, gender and public sphere in Muslim contexts. She has published extensively including several books and numerous articles based on her different research projects.
