Susan Shaw is professor of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Oregon State University. She holds an MA and PhD from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, an MAIS in Women Studies and English from OSU, and a BA in English from Berry College in Rome, GA. She is the former director of OSU’s School of Language, Culture, & Society and the Difference, Power, and Discrimination (DPD) Program. She has led numerous seminars at universities across the country on issues of power and privilege in the disciplines. She is co-author of the introductory women and gender studies textbook, Gendered Voices, Feminist Visions: Classic and Contemporary Readings in Women and Gender Studies, Oxford University Press, 2019 (with Janet Lee). She is also author of God Speaks to Us, Too: Southern Baptist Women on Church, Home, and Society (University Press of Kentucky 2008), and Reflective Faith: A Theological Toolbox for Women (Smyth & Helwys, 2014) and co-author (with Grace Ji-Sun Kim) of Intersectional Theology: An Introductory Guide (Fortress Press, 2018) and (with Mina Carson and Tisa Lewis) of Girls Rock! Fifty Years of Women Making Music (University Press of Kentucky, 2004). She is executive editor of a 4-volume encyclopedia of Women’s Lives around the World (ABC-CLIO Press, 2018).
